Paparoa Show News
It is with great disappointment that we advise the cancellation of the Kaimanawa & Pinto classes on Sunday, due a lack of entries.
Those who were entered have been advised & we thank the Kaimanawa competitor who requested that her entry fees be donated to Kaimanawa Heritage Horses instead. Very generous!
We will still try again next year & hope to gain enough support to go ahead then. Thank you to the entrants for your understanding & apologies for the short notice.
Well I twisted Carl's arm & got him to give us the 'heads up' on the 'whose who' in the trade exhibits so you'll know exactly who you want to seek out as soon as you arrive on Saturday. Here they are (in no particular order...)

Phew! And that's not all of our exhibitors! If you'd like to bring your business to Paparoa Show, you'd better get on the phone to Carl pronto! http://paparoashow.homestead.com/Committee.html
We'd also like to thank Matackana Equestrian Boutique for sponsoring an equestrian class with a gift voucher. That'll be a nice surprise for one of our riders!
If you have an interest in dairy goats, Paparoa Show is THE place to be! Check out the Dairy Goat Pavilion as you come in the gate, the stalls will be fit to bursting with gorgeous goats, strutting their stuff!
Right next to the goats, you'll find the lusciously lashed Alpacas. These South American characters are definitely worth a look!
Has Kaipara got talent? Well we want to see you in our Talent Quest! Register over at the stage (truck) before 1pm when the first act kicks off. Give it all you've got & good luck!
Check out the rest of the talent & see if you get lucky with the prize giving for the Hall exhibits & the raffle draw at 3pm in the Hall. Oh, & listen out for the Best Trade Site winner as you tuck into some lunch around 12pm.
We have some amazing Obedience Dogs coming especially to entertain you but PLEASE DON'T BRING YOUR OWN DOGS! Sorry to shout but we don't like to have to turn people away at the gate, it's awkward! We hate it even more if we have to disqualify a competitor. Just enjoy those obedience dogs & see if you can pick up a few tips to take home.
We have something for the petrol heads too; hot rods for blokes & vintage cars for gentlemen. (Kidding! Before one of you take offence & run me over!) Did I mention farm machinery...? Oh & the wood choppers are back this year! They're always great to watch!
Team Roping will be exciting & delighting the crowd as usual with their cowboy skills & horsemanship. Take your camera on over to the arena for some good action shots!
It's getting EXCITING!!!! :-D
It's confirmed! We're in for a treat on show day with Kieran Foster & Adrian Hooke compering the show. Adrian Hooke is a professional actor / script-writer who has performed internationally & Kieran Foster is a freelance actor, dj & singer who has performed onscreen & in many theatre productions.
Keep an eye out for these two buzzing around the grounds on a quad bike as roving reporters. They'll be chatting to trade stand holders about their wares, alerting you to upcoming events & may even want a word or two from you about your show experience. So don't be shy! Go say hi! We hope you enjoy their entertaining commentary throughout the day.
You still have a couple of days to get your last minute show entries in. Entries close Wednesday 30th of January so get cracking! We've made it nice & easy for you to enter electronically; you can download your entry forms here www.paparoashow.homestead.com/SchedulesEntries.html where you will also find our bank account details for internet banking. Please use the name on the entry as reference on the internet banking.
Horse people! Don't forget to bring along all your unwanted gear for our 2nd Hand Gear Table. Earn money while you compete! Simply download, print & fill out the 2nd Hand Gear Table Card (located on the Schedules page, as above) for each item & hand the cards & items to the Head Steward on the day. All items will be displayed at the Stewards Tent for the duration of the show. Please remember to pick up your cash or unsold item before you head home.
Height Certificates - Please remember to bring your height certificate with you on show day. Stewards will be requesting these before you enter the ring & you will not be able to compete if you're unable to present your certificate.
Eftpos is available on show day. Need cash out? Our eftpos facility in the Sports Pavilion will be available for you to get cash out to spend on all of the attractions & trade stands. We guarantee there will be something to tempt you!
No dogs! Sorry, but in the interests of public safety, your canine family members are not permitted on showgrounds from Friday 1st of February to Monday 4th of February. Any show competitor/exhibitor with dogs will be automatically disqualified from participating in events & members of the public will be turned away at the gate. Don't be disappointed, please leave your canine companions at home.
More to come... less than 4 days to show day! Please check back here often for any important updates over the coming days. See you at the show!
STOP PRESS! We've had a last minute addition of Welsh Pony & Cob classes to the Sunday schedule. These will be held directly after the Golden Horse classes & prior to Led Horse/Pony classes to give competitors the opportunity to compete in all three sections, should they wish to do so.
The Dairy Goat schedule & Cattle/Pet Lamb entry form are now available on the 'Schedules' page also.
